Certification and Calibration

Certification involves an assessment and verification that an instrument is performing according to manufacturer’s specifications. One of the most integral ways to ensure safety, accuracy and functionality is with lab equipment certification.

Commitment to Quality

The goal of calibration is to minimize any measurement uncertainty by ensuring the accuracy of test equipment. Calibration is the documented comparison and/or adjustment of the device to be calibrated against a reference device, and the results are traceable to NIST standards. ISO 17025 is a quality management system and the main standard for any organization that performs testing, sampling or calibration and wants reliable results. Raeyco is an ISO 17025 accredited calibration facility and ISO 17025 certificates are reviewed by our own Quality Assurance team to ensure full compliance.

Maintaining calibration frequency provides:

  • Assurance that measurement tools are accurate
  • Identification of non-conformances that require attention
  • An extended lifecycle of your equipment

Calibrations where applicable are performed in an accredited facility with our partners in calibration, Microprecision Calibration Inc. Raeyco offers multiple calibration services so you can choose the best solution for your regulatory needs. Trust your equipment to us!

Pipette Calibration

Raeyco offers various levels of pipette calibration service depending on your requirements and budget:

Pipette Basic Inspection: Each additional channel is an extra charge. Basic inspection includes as left data only. The report issued should not be considered a calibration certificate.

Pipette Gold Calibration: Each additional channel is an extra charge. Gold calibration includes as left data only. A calibration certificate is issued for the pipette.

Pipette Platinum Calibration: Each additional channel is an extra charge. Platinum calibration includes as found and as left data. A calibration certificate is issued for the pipette.

Pipette ISO17025 Calibration: Each additional channel is an extra charge. ISO17025 calibration includes as found and as left data. A ISO17025 calibration certificate is issued for the pipette.

Lab Equipment and Mass Calibration

Our calibration certificates include a Preventative Maintenance Checklist with results, Electrical Safety Checks as per CSA C22.2 No. 1010.1 Safety Standard, and compressor checks for all systems with cooling devices. All our testing uses NIST standards.

Your test weights are an essential part of your verification process, but their accuracy can be affected by environmental influences or deterioration due to use over time. For all new and existing weights that need recalibration, we offer Traceable and Calibration Certificates. Our mass calibration laboratory and processes are ISO/IEC 17025 compliant and are capable of providing calibrations from 1.0mg to 30.0kg (0.1 lb to 50.0 lb).

Frequently Asked Questions

Why trust Raeyco for my calibrations over other companies?

Raeyco preforms calibrations in compliance with ISO 17025:2017 and all standards are traceable to the International System of Units (SI) through National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) or another National Metrology Institute (NMI). Raeyco is committed to quality and offers many levels of calibration according to your needs and budget including: basic equipment inspection, gold calibration (As Left data only), platinum calibration (As Found and As Left data), and ISO 17025 calibration (accredited calibration for GMP facilities). All our calibration certificates include detailed information, provided to you via paperless, digital reports.

Contact our sales or customer care team for a quote and to discuss which type of calibration is right for you and your business. We also offer service contracts which provide the best value for equipment requiring regular calibration.

Raeyco is both ISO 9001:2015 certified and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited. Raeyco’s technicians are also NSF accredited Biological Safety Cabinet Field Certifiers.

Raeyco provides calibration services in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, the Atlantic provinces, the Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. Raeyco also provides calibration services in the USA.

We specialize in pipettes, all types of traditional laboratory equipment, analytical laboratory equipment, and various types of medical equipment. We are experts at fridges, freezers, autoclaves, lab ovens, all types of environmental chambers, centrifuges and much more! Please contact our customer care team if you have questions about equipment calibrations.

At Raeyco, we do our best to schedule services according to your needs. If you are shipping your pipettes to us, we will ensure we have the technicians available to do the work in a timely manner. If you require on-site services, we typically book out 1-2 weeks in advance.

Raeyco provides you with a digital calibration certificate which includes the following information: a report summary where the equipment condition and any faults are noted, the test equipment that was used, the measurement data, the calibration workflow and/or equipment checklist, and any recommendations. You will receive your certificates promptly after your service is complete.

Unfortunately, one calibration is not good enough for a piece of equipment to remain in operation for years to come due to the wear and tear that everyday use puts on the equipment.

In fact, ISO 9001 recommends that calibration be performed at specific intervals. Even the best maintained equipment in the world degrades over time. Any number of factors may cause an instrument to drift out of tolerance before the next scheduled calibration. Recalibration cycles should be on frequency of use, environmental conditions, and the customer’s established systematic accuracy. Many OEMs recommend an annual calibration frequency, but it all depends on your budget and level of compliance.

Raeyco offers both options, but on-site calibration may be more appropriate for certain pieces of equipment. For large items like autoclaves, lab ovens, ultralow freezers, and environmental chambers, on-site calibration makes the most sense. Equipment such as scales and balances should also be calibrated on-site for the best results. Pipettes can be easily shipped to either our BC or Ontario offices for calibration in our lab.

Many instruments have standards in place specifically to measure for performance and the need for calibration. If your equipment is producing results that are inconsistent and outside of normal values, especially over time, having your equipment calibrated is wise.

You must make the decision that is best for your process while meeting the requirements of your quality system.  If you need to be sure that your equipment is giving you accurate and repeatable measurements, then calibration must be a part of your process. If you are unsure whether calibration or replacement is right for your measurement application, please contact us.
